This Just In: Robo Banned!!

Recommended Posts

Hey all,
The MN legislature has just announced that the use of "robo" type decoys will be banned on public waters this year for the first 2 weeks of the season. This ban does not apply to those using them on private fields and will be up to the DNR to decide weather they may be used on water surrounded by private land.
What is your reaction?

I think its a good solution, that way people who already bought them can still get a lot of use out of them during the rest of the season. We shouldn't need them the first couple weeks anyway.

I don't know what to say - i seriously doubt that this solution is going to have any impact on the hunters or the duck population. what we need is for every state to agree on something and stick to it- we should all be on the same page in my opinion.

S.A.

Well there should be another mass migration to the dakotas. The minnesota DNR is going to lose more money. And people are going to be short stopped on public from a guy on private using 3 of them. I dont hunt minnesota on opener I am in north dakota and have been there for the last 5 years. Minnesota has one of the lowest duck kill/hunter in the nation.....why us? I guess we save the waterfowl for the guys down south so they can violate them. Not fair, we all have limits whats it gonna hurt if you get one? The hunters down south are celebrating they are going to have a great season once again. Here I come dakotas lets rock and roll!

Ban them forever and everywhere I say. Have used them and hunted against them and have seen their pros and cons. My biggest gripe is that they're so dang fragile. No way can anything like stand up to the abuse doled out in my boat if I have to have one to keep up with the Jones'. Still love my classic set up and love watching mallards cupping into the next parties spread whether or not thay've got robo. Out.

last year we hunted opening weekend on a half and half private pond about 80 acres of water. We set out about 90 decoys and had two pretty good callers. The guys across the lake had a fair amount of decoys and two robo ducks and werent calling. Every duck that came into the pond went towards us. The others guys got so [PoorWordUsage]ed off they came over yellen at us about sharing the lake. HeHe. But I also hunted with them and had some good luck. I just say quit complanning about the robo and start using the your posting and practice your calling.
