Broken Darter on 1st outting and 1st fish

I was fishing at a tournament where I was jigging my new darter. I hooked on to a 19.5" bass and had the lure pop at the top of the hole (luckily the fish hopped out of the hole). I brought it up to get weighed and measured and noticed a hook in its mouth. The guy asked me if my line had snapped and if it was mine and I told him my line didnt snap but I hadnt even looked at my lure (it was a catch and release tourney so I was more worried about getting the fish back in the hole). When I went back to my rod I found this..

Anyone else have something like this happen with these? I bought this lure the day before and this was its first outting and first fish.

I own a ever growing collection of the darters and never had an isue with any of them. I guess one or two bad ones could slip by quality control every now and again, it happens with all products. It's pretty cool that they are standing behind their product and sending you a new one grin. That's the difference between a great company like Lindy and some of the other tackle makers out there. Good customer service goes a long way in this world wink.

I was running 6lb braided line.

My guess is that it was just a air pocket in the casting or something. Everyone I have chatted with seems to really love them and had minimal problems. Ill buy more for sure. They work great.

No, not the big winner. It was a inches tourney and I caught the heaviest fish. Thats my luck..lol. Im just happy I caught something and had a good time.
