Thank you to CBrooks/Son's first muskie

I wanted to give a "thank you" to CBrooks who donated us some muskie gear that really got us going in the right direction for muskie fishing. We have a family cabin on the Canadian side of LOTW and we really just started muskie fishing this year. My 10 yr old son and I have been out a few times and caught some northerns and have had a couple of follows.

We went out on Saturday afternoon for a few hours in an area of the lake I'm somewhat getting comfortable with for muskie. We caught a few northerns, got a follow and then got a splash and a miss, on what was supposed to be his last cast for the day. Well, of course, we stayed for a "few more casts." His next cast he landed his first muskie. A 43 incher smacked his Cowgirl! He reeled it in perfectly and we got it landed without incident.

Went to the glovebox to get the camera and my heart sunk - it wasn't there. My father-in-law took it out to change the batteries and forgot to put it back. However, my son said, "Dad, don't worry, I'll never forget this anyway." And if anyone was within a 10 mile radius, I'm pretty sure sure they heard him hoot and hollar. Anyway, just thought I'd share this. Back up to LOTW in two weeks.

Congrats to the kid! It took me a few years to let one swim without a pic so that's pretty cool. That's good karma and he's got many bigger ones to catch in his time yet.

Thats awesome to hear Shore. Congrats to you and your son. I know muskie's wasn't your choice fish but your son had a interest and you were able to make it happen. I'm sure this is the first of the many fish he catches. Good to know that the gear is getting wet
