  1. I'm also looking for info on the Lx2. Is it new for this year? or has last years model been upgraded to include- improved color and clearity/interference reduction and a switchable zoom window? (5 to 10 ft) Anyone with some info on this model?
  2. LMITOUT Thanks for the come back. These bits of info. sure help construct the puzzle, while trying to decide on which model to purchase. Have you any thoughts on this- Whould it be fair to say the New model Lx2 has color and clearity upgrades compareable to Lx3tc? Does this years Lx2 have improved interference rejection along with a 5' or 10' switchable zoom window? JIGLFIN
  3. Any one know; Do's this years marcum Lx2 have the same color improvements as the Lx3tc? Is the select a zoom window, from (5 to 10 ft) new for the Lx2 also? any other improvements? Will the Marcum Lx2 operate in the same shanty, without interfereing with or interfereance from the vexilars??
  4. If the vex's need the S cable in shallow water. What do the marcum's use, in this situation?
  5. Thanks for your responses, Fellow FMer's. So an upgrade has and probably needs to occur!
  6. Was sharing a shanty with a neighbor, the other day. He was commenting on seeing fish moving up with his bait and I wasn't, so I looked over at his screen and the clarity and seperation appeared dramaticly improved over my FL8 slt! Any input as to why the difference?
  7. Pikemaster101 The manual should explain your question. My experience, soft bottom is indicated by a narrower bottom band on the screen. Which model vex. do you have? Am curious about screen clarity on various models.
  8. Beaver15 If your auger is the 2HP model, your not alone. Myself and others have reported the lack of power problem and also many are hard starting and cold blooded, there is also a rewind issue. So proceed with caution before putting out the $$$ for this auger!
  9. Calorado-Ice-Man I would suggest talking to people who own the 2HP models. Particularly the Stealth version. A lot of technology went into the cutting point, but the engines can be hard starting and cold blooded. My opinion, the power to run that auger is not there, with the 2HP engine! Good luck JIGLFIN;
  10. Should not be a problem. Your local retailer may stock the auger units, if not they should be able to order. I'v heard some fishers, are replacing their auger units, with a lazer version for around $100.00 (factory reconditioned I believe) Good luck JIGLFIN;
  11. Colorado-ice-man Your carb. may be starting to gum-up from old fuel. Using Sta-Bil in your fuel/oil mix helps prevent this,especially during the off season. When starting a 3 hp engine, I leave the choke open, prime till fuel starts dripping by the carb., than start. ( may need an additional prime or 2 during warm-up). Good luck JIGLFIN;
  12. How's everyone hauling their augers, layin on the side? If it is possible to bend the shaft, doing this, who's got a suggestion as to an improved means of transport, without seperating the power head?
  13. Surface Tension; Have you operated one of the new 2Hp models? These are not the 2hp of 3 or 10 yr's ago, these are a brand new "Animal" and the start/run issues really test ones tolorance! With the 3hp motors /w the primer, a person can develop a start pattern. (without the choke) In my opinion the 2hp needs a primer as a means to get a handle on the correct amount of fuel for startup, the primer also works as a feathering device, during warmup.
  14. Hanson; Is your auger a 2HP model,with a compression release?
  15. Timber; Venting is always key! If this is a perminant,or perm sleeper, than a fully vented heater, backed with some venting and a CO detector is the key. Think Safe! JIGLFIN;
  16. SWMuskeye; If you search "Inverter" on this site, there is alot of good info. on the subject. I run a 400 watt inverter in my truck, it can be a handy tool, depending on an individules situation. Good Luck, JIGLFIN
  17. mrmillelacs; This link may help. Trailer Towing Tips... Trailer Loading One of the main causes of trailer sway is not having a large enough percentage of trailer tongue weight compared to gross trailer weight. ... www.etrailer.com/faq/trailer-towing-tips.asp - 18k Sounds like tongue wght. should = 10-15% of GTW. Your trailer loading (cargo) will affect this also. Good Luck; JIGLFIN
  18. Best wishis and safe fishin, thru the Holidays everyone. While on the Hardwater, remember the "Yuletide". JIGLFIN;
  19. Gus; Speaken about light, I built a hardside portable, with a 2x2 floor and 1x2 sides and its 5 ft tall at ctr. I would think height as much as weight would determine how wind will affect it. How would it work to run a 2 x over the skids, with a hole in it, drill a partial hole in the ice and drop a rod or pipe thru the 2x into the hole, for a anchor? Than finish drill the hole, when you move the house. If wind is a concern.
  20. Roam-Roam...ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Over time, noise like that, can lead to perminent ear damage,in the form of ringing. Heck, it sounds like "Christmas" all year long.
  21. Any of you fellow FM'rs that are running the model 30 (3HP) augers with the "earpopping" exhaust. There is help! IF interested, you can email me, to discuss what i'v done to improve this. j369lake@yahoo.com
  22. 92python; I can identify with your situation, I own a new stealth 2HP that idles fine, but requires 7 to 10 pull's to start after its been sitting, which is every time I go fishin and this hard start situation matches the 2HP SM.and 2HP Eskimo I'v owned. Any interest in a primer for these? Has anyone added a primer or found an answer for quicker starts?
  23. Ed; I see you are from lovely little Horace ND. My brother "Jaybird" lived there for a number of years, don't know if you fellow's met, but he's a hardwater guru, from years gone. He reciently purchased some acres and moved over Hawley MN. way. Thank's for all the premo info. sounds like one has nothing to fear with all the advanced technology goin into this unit. I also have owned a small fleet of augers over the last 30 + years of hardwater fishin, but none with a clutch that engaged quite like this one! Got another one for someone. After ownin a couple model 30's, I finally learned how to enjoy startin one and it went like this - open the tank vent, prime till fuel appears at the carb. inlet, (leave the choke open) lean the carb. up slightly, pull once or twice and it's runnin, (keep your thumb near the primer till it idles smoothley). Simple aye. Any of you 2HP owners, open the tank vent, put the choke on and pull till your elbow heats up? 7 to 10 pulls and wondered why? or where is the primer???
