  1. A few years back I was fishing sunnies on Lake Independence and doing OK. We were throwing our fish outside the house on the ice. We decided it was time to make a count to see haw many we had. (We thought about 15 or so by now). When we looked outside there were only two fish left. We were puzzled. About 15 minutes later a guy comes over and apologises and told us that his lab had eaten our fish. He then says "if it's any consolation, he just threw them all up in my fish house!!". He was embarrased and felt bad. We were OK with it and got a good laugh out of it.

  4. The same kind of thing happened to me (my wife). One night at about 2:00 am my wife comes into the bedroom all freaked out. She had let our black lab out in the back yard before she was going to go to bed. He didn't return very quickly and she was tired so she called to him out the door. He reluctantly came but to her dismay he had something in his mouth (and she was pretty sure it was alive). I went downstairs to investigate and sure enough there was a live squirrel laying on the floor of our living room. Lucky for me and unfortunately for the squirrel it was almost dead. My dog just layed his head on the squirrel as if to beg me not to take his new found toy but we did what we had to do. My wife doesn't like to let the dog out at night as much any more.
  5. ATM, Congradulations on your new addition. Teach him well. Best of luck to you and Mrs. ATM.
  6. Merry Christmas to all and to all a safe winter season.
  7. Went down there yesterday. Stopped and hunted a public spot by LeCenter and saw nothing. Got permission to hunt a farm by Smiths Mill. Flushed 1 rooster and two hens. Got the rooster. Next hunted my friends farm outside of Mankato. Lots of birds but most were skiddish. Saw 5 roosters (only took one long shot) and about 15 hens. I noticed most of the birds that flushed flew toward the same corner of the property. As I was heading in that direction my lab got real birdy. Two roosters flushed and I got one of them. I had to be careful because it was one of those shots that you could get two with one shot. I was pretty excited about getting a limit so I called home to tell my wife and while we were talking about ten to twelve birds flew into the slew I was heading toward. It was a really cool sight. LOTS of birds in that area.
  8. I went out last Thursday between Kasota and Mankato and flushed probably 20 birds. (1 group of about 12 hens). Another group of five birds of which one could have been a rooster but it flushed silent and I couldn't tell. The land owner said that the birds were hanging out in the plowed fields until sunset. He said to post on the edge of his field at sunset and hope for a shot but due to time constraints I couldn't do that. All in all a good day in the field.
  9. That sounds like a great set-up you've got there. Should be great when the corn is down and you give your posters shooting lessons.lol. I hunted south of Belle Plain last Thursday on public land. Lots of corn around. My lab got birdy three or four times but ended up running into the corn every time. Bummer.
  10. Definately pheasants fisrt. Next grouse. Love to hunt huns but rarely get the opportunity. Rem 870 for all.
  11. Kristy and her parents are in my families thoughts and prayers.
