  1. I would use the auger in our wheelhouse. Scott M. Fisher MN
  2. I purchased a Grand Lodge 2 years ago and it came with a title. I guess I assumed that all wheelhouses came with them unless they were home built. Even without a title I would think that all the DMV would need would be VIN#, Length, Make, Year, and possibly GVW.
  3. It helps to reduce the formation of ice dam's that can cause shingle damage and water seepage in between the walls. Dam's can cause serious damage to your house and cost you a ton of cash.
  4. Cross your thermostat connection with a jumper wire (usually the R and G terminals on your furnace) and leave them crossed for 15 minutes. If at any time during that 15 minutes it turns off then you know that the furnace is probably overheating. If it stays on the whole time then the problem is in the thermostat.
  5. My first thought would be your High/Low limit switch may be bad. This would make the furnace think it is overheating even if it isnt. I believe that furnaces are wired to shut down if the max temp on the limit switch is exceeded. Then it cools down a bit and thermostat calls for heat immediately again because the house never actually heated up and the cycle starts again. Just a thought, NOT an expert by any stretch of the imagination. My other thought would be the Thermostat took a dive. Can you turn your fan on constant and see if it still cycles the flame as often. This would tell you if the furnace is overheating because it will pull the heat out of the unit.
  6. Carbs may be a good starting point but by the sounds of the symptoms you described I would guess rotten/cracked fuel lines. If the engine runs good for that minute or two before it dies, then I think the carbs are working fine(although it never hurts to clean them up, expecially after sitting for a few years). Cracked fuel lines will usually let the motor run fine for a short while but the suction pulls air into the system and once that air gets to the compression chamber (piston) she will die out on you. I am no mechanic but it is another option to look at.
  7. Thanks guys, Its about time I got a little luck on my side. Now if I can do that a couple more times maybe I can get back in this thing.
  8. I have a grand lodge and have been more than happy with it. Very solid unit and pretty much all the comforts of home. They are a little spendy but very nice and extreamely well built. I did alot of looking around before I made a purchase and there is a very wide range of craftsmanship. P.S. I have 6000# axles and I would not consider anything less than at least 4500#. When you get on rough ice these houses bounce around pretty good even at 5-7 mph and it doesn't take much of a bounce to double the axle load. I know there is one company out there that had some problems with their axles and I believe that they were using 3500# axles(dont know for sure but 3500 rings a bell). In the last couple years they have put heavier axles in them from what I hear. I just think a little extra strength cant hurt.
  9. Have been real happy with the interstate mega-tron. Have two of them in the wheelhouse
  10. DTRO, Sounds to me like ST may have hit it. If it keeps leaking now that you have burned some of the fuel off I would think that it is one of your floats that is bad. That also sounds like the problem based off the symptoms that you described. When the floats come up they push on a needle valve and basically shut off the fuel. If your float is sinking it will never shut off. Depending on what kind of carb it is the leak may be coming out of the idle air breather. Not all of the carbs have this breather though. Some have a foam piece right at the carb, others have a hose that goes to a different location. Hope this helps as these types of problems can be a real pain.
  11. I dont know the whole story here but here is my .02. Unless you are on a floating dock you may be bicking up a signal off of one of the struts or pilon. Expecially if the water is as deep as you are stating. The deeper the water is the larger zone you are viewing, thus the further you need to be away from any false structure. I believe this holds true to any flasher. They will read a bottom wherever the closest returning signal is coming from (pole, ridge, rock, etc...) This false bottom blocks out the true bottom. I had a problem very similar to this on LOTW on the rock reefs. We happened to park very close to a huge rock that must have been 5 feet tall. (very good for fishing structure---very bad for flasher fishing) I was reading the top of the rock as the bottom of the lake even though I was fishing the true bottom so I was basically fishing blind. It was so frustrating we moved the house 20 yards and everything worked fine. I dont know if my explanation made any sense to anyone but I hope it helps. I use a vex FL-18 but that shouldn't make any difference. They both use the EXACT SAME PRINCIPLE.
  12. I purchased one of these houses about 1 hour ago. Very nice looking, versitle, and built very well from what I have seen/heard. I posted a similar question yesterday on this forum but I did not mention the brand cause I wanted an unbiased opinion. Unfortunately I did not get one response. Anyhow, I hee'd and haa'd for about 45 days and did a ton of research and I bought the lodge. I think it is hard to get info on them because there are not as many out as some other companies. The main things I was concerned with was I wanted spray insulation, durability, and strong axles. When the house bounces over breaks the inertia of the house can be as much as 2.5 times what the house weighs. Besides that, I just think these houses are sweeeeeeeeeeet rigs. Mine is maroon and I get it on Friday. After that its address will be RMS--LOTW. Probably wont be in action for ohhhh 3 weeks. If you see it feel free to stop in!!! Sorry I couldnt help ya out more but hopefully a little.
  13. Looking for a little info on wheelhouses. Good brand/bad brand, personal experiance, quality of certain brands, etc... Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning toward a newer company that makes a very nice shack and I really like the smooth sided aluminum look but I dont think there are a ton of them around yet. There is also a substantial price difference between some brands so is this another case of "you get what you pay for" or are they all built about the same.
