0 reddog
I dont currently use Dr Depth, but I am guessing that I will be getting it soon. I just bought a 520C from Reeds, to record the data from my favorite spots, which I will do this spring. Then, I'm gonna send my data to a friend with Dr Depth., and he is gonna build me my first map to try. If it works like I am thinking it will, I will then buy the program. 0 Charley
Who is Dr. Depth? I thought that is what Lakemaster software is.
0 broman
DrDepth is an application that will allow you to create your own contour maps using data from your sonar. That's about as much as I know about it. You can Google it and read more about it.
0 wakeguy
I don't own the software but Bassnspear and I got an opportunity to go out in the boat with Doc Sampson for a demo. I was amazed how quickly he could get a great map of the bottom with the software. I thought we would have to make more passes with a smaller distance between them but the software was able to generate a very good map in a matter of a few passes. It was definately more detailed than the mapcard we had but it was alot of gear in the boat. Doc had his laptop in the boat hooked up to the GPS. He swears that it often gives him an advantage in tournaments but anyone who knows him is aware that he is a bit of a gear guy. If you can afford the setup it seems like a great tool given a little time to learn the software. For me the chips seem good enough for most lakes but I would love it on the lakes that don't have a high def. map. Im sure if you contact Doc he would be happy to speak with you in detail. 0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Seems inexpensive enough. Looks like it would be a lot of fun besides.I like exploring.

0 reddog
Heres a picture that Doc Samson posted on another site of a road bed on Devils Lake. The map was built by Warren Parsons with Dr Depth software.
0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
So do this maps then go into your GPS unit so can actualy use them like a Lakemaster or Navionics?
0 reddog
Yes, you input the info, Dr Depth builds the map. YOu load the map onto a media card and your depth finder will read it. What I know about it, is that it will build a map based on the information ou collect with your depth finder or computer. The map will be in depth contours, just like the mapping chips. I believe that you can select color differential for your contour groups. You can set you contour lines up to 6 inches differential. There is supposed to be a software upgrade, that will also allow you to add in bottom harndness (color) differences, but I dont believe its available, just yet.The map that I posted, is simply a 3D rendering of the information, and not useable in a depth finder, according to Doc. 0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
It would be really cool to have the 3D rendering with contour lines in combination and also the ability to turn off one or the other.

0 S.D. Ice Angular
I think it will be helpful on lakes that are not mapped already.I am also a gadget man so of course I can find a reason to buy it.Now we just need some open water
