Fishing Junky
Howdy all. My outboard has a hesitation when accelerating. I don't have a tack, but when accelerating, it will hesitate at about the 3 mph range and then will be fine. It idles all day long with no prob, and all the different rpm ranges are great also. It has done it since day one. It's still under warrenty and I just lived with it this past summer, as I didn't have any time to bring it in. Just wondering what might cause this? I will bring it in this spring, but curious as to what might be happening. Thanks for any insight and your time. Junky.......
marine_man
does it do it every time? Just when it's cold? After you've been trolling for a while? Any ideas there?marine_man
Fishing Junky
Hey MM. It does it everytime. Cold, warm, slow throttle up, fast throttle up. It is a tiller. Thanks for any clues. Junky........
marine_man
that's a tough one to trouble shoot... could be the idle needles are set a bit rich, and when you take off it floods, or that they're set up a bit too lean and it starves for gas when you take off - but I'd think you'd have idle speed / trolling issues at some point too.You could try and take off and be ready to hit the choke when it stalls and see if that picks it up...marine_man
Fishing Junky
Hey MM, I'm thinking the carbs may out of sinc???? Maybe if that was the case, I would have troubles at different rpm ranges also though. There is no manual choke on the motor to try and trouble shoot. Like I said, this has been happening since day one. Just haven't had the time to take it in, but will in the spring, so it shouldn't be a big deal. It really is a sweet running motor besides the issue that I am having. I appreciate you taking the time and responding. marine_man
That was the other thing I was wondering, but I would have aniticpated you'd notice other performance issues. But it certainly could be that as well.that's right.. they've got an automatic choke on those... If it were me I'd just take it in as well, especially since it's still under warranty. It will likely just be an adjustment.marine_man
