nitroant
I searched the past threads but could find anything on Tetu. Maybe I did it wrong. Anyway, going to Tetu in late June. Looking for info on what to bring. I have their list from their HSOforum and have a pretty good assortment for bass, walleye, pike and musky. Looking for what those of you who have been there found to be the ticket. Also what are your thoughts on the place and the people. I also see they give a 10% discount at Thorne Bros. for guests staying at Tetu, what do I need to show at Thorne Bros. to prove this? Thanks in advance. eyes'
I was up there about 6 years ago... Nothing but good things to say about that trip. It is first class all the way around. Bring lots of jig heads orange and chartruse in an asortment of sizes for the walleyes. For the pike we mostly threw spoons of all shapes and sizes and it didn't seem to matter too much. Although we didn't fish for smallies, I would bring up some mepps... Those crazy fish usually love them. Have a great trip and let us now how you do... Zaraspooks
Probably the finest Lodge I've ever been to. Been there twice in the fall and I can't wait to go back. Fishing - We caught numerous walleyes mostly on jigs and trolling crankbaits. Many eaters with some bigger ones(29"er). The Northerns were fantastic. Mostly threw big wood like a perch colored Phantom. On my first trip I caught a 35", 39 1/2", 40", 42", 44" and a 47"(biggest of my career). Tried smallies for an afternoon and caught a few but nothing big. They also have a Master Angler program that awards you with a certificate for certain sized fish. I have mine framed in my office. Guides & Boats - I think they run nice Crestliners with 50 hp motors. The boats are 1st class with floors and pedestal seats. The gudes are very knowledgeable and they will even supply the rods, reels, and tackle for you. However, if you break or lose something, you should replace it. Chad is one of their better guides but he is usually booked. I heard he got married so I not sure if he still works there. If you can get Claude, plan on throwing wood all day. He loves to northern fish and will usually put you on some nice fish. They also prepare shore lunch. Just sit back, enjoy a beer and they will let you know when it's time to eat. Lodging - Beautiful!!! The cabins are ultra modern with satillite TV, carpet, showers, toilets, everthing you would need. Even nicer than most hotels I have stayed at. Lodge - Very nice place to relax. Bar, pool table, bowling, cards, etc. Very comfortable. Hosts - Ed & Kathie are great poeple, very friendly. Don't let Ed take any money from you on the pool table, he's pretty good. Their daughter Katie is also fantastic. She has a great sense of humor. Muskie Matt (I believe he's part of the tie in with Thorne Bros) is one heck of a fisherman. He really knows his stuff. Service - The service is like nothing I've seen before. From the minute you get there, you are pampered. No carrying of lugage, tackle, coolers, bags. They won't allow it. Everthing is handled for you. And if you need something, they will get it or it can be purchased at the store on site. Food - I saved this for last because it is hard to believe. As good as the fishing is, the food is even better. The Chef is unbelieveable. I have not had food this good in some of the fancier restaurants I have eaten at. It amazes me that the food gets beter and better every time I go there. Don't plan on losing any weight cause the portions are good sized and you'll probably finish it all. I envy you and enjoy yourself. I missed last year but hopefully I'll be able to get back this year. John L. Noe
nitroant
Zaraspooks-I see your a fellow Lino Laker. I too have heard nothing but good things and can't wait. I guess they switched to custom made 18' Princecraft boats last year, but otherwise it sounds like everything is about the same. Did you catch any musky? Sounds like I need and assortment of jigs and crank baits for walleye and spoons, shallow cranks and top water stuff for pike. I hope to land some nice pike like you did. Zaraspooks
Nitroant -Both times I went were with some larger groups. A couple of the guys targeted strictly muskies on one trip and although they had a few follows, they didn't boat any muskies, just big northens.
