Vexilar FL-8 Problem

Studer

Question

I have had an issue with my FL-8. When I go to charge it, I have to turn the power on to charge it. It has the light indicator for when it is done charging it turns from green, to yellow, to orange, to red (red means remove charger) I have not used it since last year but when charging, it only goes to orange not red to remove charger. Any suggestions??

Well, if you have the same battery status indicator that I have on my FL-8 I wouldn't worry about it. Even when my setup was new I never got that indicator to light up red. I usually charge mine for a day and call it good. The indicator will show 100% and that's where I leave it.

I've experienced the same thing with my FL-18 Pro Pack that comes standard with the battery status gauge. I have seen mine light the Fully Charged light, but 90% of the time it just shows 100% (orange light) even after charging for day or so. I don't want to overcharge the battery, so I just call it good even though the indicator does not show Fully Charged (red light).

I really don't have any suggestions, but I can say that I even when the charge reads 100%, I think its ready to rock. I've been super impressed with the battery in my FL-18. I taken it on weekend trips where it lasts close to 20 hours without a recharge. Whether or not the indicator is flaky, my battery is holding plenty of juice for any standard fishing trip.

Studer,

I had the same problem with mine. Bought a Status Indicator and I'm going to go by what that tells me. I believe after letting the batter charge over night it should be ready to go the next day.

I sent Vexilar an email a while back and they told me to send the battery into them at the end of the ice fishing season and they would replace it with a new one.

Vexilar knows how to run a business.

I have a FL-18 and my status indicator never lights the red. I have checked the battery with a meter after the full charge light come's on in the charger and it is at 100% charged even though the red indicator light did not light. So I guess what I am getting at is your battery is fully charged but these indicator are not all that great.
