so haaad
Looks like there may be a new shortnose redhorse world record, caught here in Minnesota waters. Caught near Freeport on the Sauk River, it was a 12-pound, 11 1/2-ounce monster.http://www.startribune.com/stories/767/5419614.html
hanson
So Haaad-I saw that article too. What a fish!! That fish smoked the old state record, not even close. Too Cool!
ricqik
Sorry to say it but that's not a shorthead redhorse. It's either a greater or river redhorse which are easily distiguishable from a shorthead redhorse. I'm not discrediting the fish, it is indeed a big redhorse, a state record for sure since the states biggest redhorse is 11lbs-13oz.
smallie_hawgin
So Ricq, You know how to count pharyngial teeth then? Appearances alone are inevitably deceiving. I'll wait for the verification before I pass judgment.
Roughfisher
The record is going to be revised. It's not a shorthead. It's greater redhorse. But it also breaks the Greater Redhorse record. The DNR will likely change their mind within the next couple of weeks. Redhorse specialists have looked at the photos.
