Clam 6800 - Best method of hauling

nluchau

Question

I recently purchased a clam 6800. If you own one how do you like it? Also what is your method of hauling it. Mine fits perfectly between the wheel wells and fills up the floor of the bed front to rear in my ext cab silverado but my main question is since the floor is so flimsy or lightweight, if you put an auger on top of it it caves the house in alittle. My goal is to fit the house, auger, propane tank, and heater in the bed and possibly a bucket with rods in it. HOW??????

Thanks for any replies.

Nick

I have a 6800 and I love it except when it comes time to move,as far as hauling goes mine goes on top of my Blazer but in your truck you should have spots on the left and right sides of the box that you can put 2x4's across then a sheet of ply wood on top of, so you end up with a upper and lower shelf system, lighter stuff on top, shack on the bottom, hope this helps a little. grin.gif

Thanks for the reply. I have thought of that too. I actually just exchanged it for a Clam 5600 and Strikemaster auger for the same price as the 6800. the 6800 was just too big to move around like you mentioned.
