Jim43
I am in awe, I was a bit nervous about purchasing such a small engine on an auger but it was a really good deal from Cabelas internet order. NO tax. UPS dropped it off right before I had to go get my son from school and I quick attached the auger and ran and picked him up. Told him Told him on the way home that we will be going out to Clear Lake just south of town after he has a snack to break it in.Well, got out there and gased it up with a 1/4 tank and primed it just like they tell you to do. 2nd pull and it was running just fine. Let it warm up for about 5 mn and then turned the choke off and away it went, buzzed through 28 inches of ice in a couple a seconds. I was amazed at how fast it was, went and drilled 3 more holes in a matter of a minute and was just so surprized that a 33cc engine could do it that quick. I am no longer nervous about the power of this auger other then the fact I`ll probably have to go out and buy an extension for it soon the way ice is going. So if your looking for an economical power auger, I can say that the Eskimo Stingray will do the job just fine.

Brian Jones
I was thinking it would be lighter then the Lazer Mag Xpres 8" but that comes in at 24 pounds and has two horse power. Heard a few different weights on the Nils so that is up for debate. Never cared until I started fishing so many lakes you have to do a lot of walking to get into, now weight is a big issue. Plus when you drill a lot of holes it takes its toll there also.Fell through for the first time in a spring hole on a backwoods lake and was thankful I had a hand auger in my hand...helped me get out. Use caution when exploring new lakes especially with a lot of snow cover to hide problem areas.
BK19
well i had my first bad experiance with the stingray the wife and i and our son and daughter went to go fishing, set the shack up after searching for a spot, then the recoil busted all to he** inside, plastic pieces all over but gander mt in mankato will exchange the entire augerfor a new one so the wife went to do that

Get out to the lake and its still warm and fires off with one pull. I punch out 4 holes for me and my son and shut it down and set up my Nordic and clean out the holes. by time I finish setting everything up I put the cap back on the auger and put it back in the van where it stays warm. I just jope I don`t run into any problems like you just had, We just got back from a long day of fishing over at Sleepy Eye Lake and when the snowmobiles starting driving me crazy we left and headed over to Lake Hanska, the dead sea. LOL. My stingray performed fantastic punching 8 holes through 28 inches of without any problems.

Your description of the replacement describes my stingray real well. At least you`ll be out drilling new holes soon. Good luck to ya. Now if I could only find the fish around here. Well Nick, we only caught a couple a micro perch before the snowmobiles invaded and the noise level became unbearable and we packed up and headed over to Lake Hanska. It was quiet there but with the aeration system running now the water clarity was down to about 1 ft and not knowing where to fish we stopped by a group of houses straight south of the beach across from the open water and nothing would bite. The winds were aweful. My son had a sled along and before he knew what happened it was sailing across the lake toward the open water and beach. Had to holler at him to stop chasing it before he got to close to the thin ice. So he was all bummed out loosing that sled, it was outa site before we knew it. Guess we`re have to go over and try out washington I guess, fishing around this area is really worthless.
Jim43
I sent in my registration card the day I recieved my auger and made a note about the plastic blade cover had a crack in it and a piece of plastic broken out of it. What do ya know, Spee Dee delivered a new cover for my auger today. Talk about good customer service, I didn`t even ask for it.
