sidecar pan fishin man
We have been using the aqua view for the second year now and have had the light on only when it gets too dark to see the jig. We were talking today and we realized we have never caught a fish with the light on. Has any one ever caught a fish with the lights on or dose it scare the fish away, or do you think it attracts fish? Troy Pike
buzbunni
Nice cycles sidecar. You should post a bigger picture of your ice house on your homepage(the one in the avatar). It looks cool. Sorry, I don't have any info regarding the lights. Good question though. My buddy has the aqua-view, and I'll be interested in what others experience has been. Ed Carlson
I have had better luck using camera systems in the "Down view Mode" after dark. I feel a constant light source from above spooks the fish less then a source from the side.Thiner profile fish like crappie are more difficult to see in this manner but walleye can easily be spotted either by shape or by there eyes. If I can barley see my jig in the distance I will easily see a walleye move into the strike zone. I try to keep as much distance above as I can and still see my bait. If they still appear to be spooked by the light I skip it and rely on the sonar to tell me what is up down below.I am not so sure that the light spooks the walleye off as much as shadows do? Constant light sources seldom spook a walleye, sudden shadow movement always spooks a walleye. They are conditioned from the fry stage to be weary of shadows. To fish shadows mean potential predators from above, and it is time to flee.
