Fall smallmouth in Lakes

So this coming weekend I'm heading up to brainerd/Longville area for some smallmouth fishing. This past weekend the lake I was fishing had water temps in the upper 50's. Late this week temps are going to drop hard, and probably push that water down to the low 50's upper 40's.

My question is with the dropping of temps like this is it going to push these smallies deep? I've never fished them this late in the year before and was wondering where to start or what to look for.

Last year during MEA, it was colder than it has been this fall, and we were catching them in 6 to 10 feet of water.  Most were hitting brown tube jigs, but a decent number were caught on buzzbaits.  Won't hurt to start shallow and work deeper until you find fish.  Each lake can be different, my lake is very clear and we were sight fishing.  So far,. this fall the same things have been working well.  If the food is there, the fish will be as well.
