sdsu_jacks
A few days ago I fished in Iowa with a family member that just bought an Ion Ice Auger, 8", 40V I believe. At first I was amazed by the auger and it made me went to get rid of my jiffy! Easy to carry around, super easy to drill holes with, had great torque! But then the fully charged battery died after about 65 holes (give or take 15, wasn't really counting) in 10-12 inches of ice. So if anybody is planning on buying this auger, it is great if you just do a few holes here and there, or for a lot of holes in the early ice season. If you plan on using it a lot though, I would not recommend it. Great Iowa auger, but not a Northern MN auger.
eagle_3464
Thanks for the post. Your comments, all positive to me, helps with my thoughts of purchasing an Ion. IMO, 650" to 780" of ice on a single charge is nothing to complain about. That is still 25 holes in 30" of ice.
