California club event report

Last night we had a club event at a local lake that is loaded with smallies.

We fished from 7p.m. until 2a.m.

As you folks say the jet skiers are pretty bad! I almost T-boned a couple of girls that turned to the right in front of me without looking first! Fortunately I was watching and slowed down to about 60mph in the Ranger before they turned!

To win an event at this lake you have to catch largemouths, so I went to the weediest spot on the lake and started throwing buzz-baits. My partner caught our first fish on a woodchopper (2lbs) and our sixth fish on a blade(2.44 which was non-boat big fish). As night approached I continued to throw the buzz-bait with slow success. But when the sliver moon came out We started to catch them. We caught over 2 limits in the weeds and weighed in 12.21 (five fish limit), good enough for second. First place was 12.49 with a 4.84 big fish.

We (my Wife and 2 boys) will be in Mlps all next week.
