You must use the heck out of that plow to worry about wearing out shoes! I've never used mine. I use it for cement, so want to scrape. A wheeler plow isn't that heavy, unless you plow for 2 days straight every single snowfall, I don't think you need to worry, imo.

If you know a welder that can hard surface the bottom of the shoe, that would be the best. The hard surface is a welding rod that is used to protect the metal that its welded to. We use it on the shovels on our diggers to help them last longer and it helps a lot.
