Which MinnKota Terrova?

RipJigger

Question

Ive got a 2010 16' fishawk tiller model boat and Im currently looking to upgrade my bowmount. It currently has a 45lb motor guide on it which it came with. It works just fine when its calm or a slight chop but its not cutting it when theres any significant amount of wind. I think im ready to pull the trigger on a Terrova 80 with i-pilot but had a couple questions. Is the 80 overkill? Would the 55 be enough? Shaft legnth? 45 or 60? Just wondering what you folks think.

I have a pretty similar boat and I went with the 80. I think the 55 would be enough in most situations, but it is nice to have the extra power and run time when needed in current or high wind. I'd go with the 60" shaft. Again the 45 would probably work but would cavitate in wind. I usually have my depth collar set about 1' from the head on my 60".
