Bowfishing season?

This will be my second year bowfishing. How will things be looking with the early ice out? My hot spot from last year is dry. Will the dry conditions affect the season? Will the carp be spawned out by the time the season starts with the early ice out and warm weather? Still figuring things out, but had fun last year!

I was kinda wondering the same thing. The carp spawn usually starts up here, Otter Tail Co., around the first week of june and with the low water on the river this year it's dry where i usually find them in the shallows. All i know is 5 weeks seems like a loooong time yet.

I dont think we will miss the spawn unless it gets really warm and sunny for the next month, but the way this spring is going you never know..

I doubt you'll miss the spawn. A lot can happen between now and May 1. I'd say, with the temps, this opener is shaping up to be one of the best in years. Carp should be shallower than normal. Some weeds and stuff should be up, so they'll be more apt to hold tight in the day. And all you lucky buggers with rigged-up boats should have a heyday at night.

I'm jealous. I haven't been out for a couple years, and I've got a serious hankering to stick some fish. Just gotta tune my bow and I'm set.
