I have a few Gator spoons in the box .. but I still like my old reliable *Daredevil* and have had better success in the overall .. could be a confidence thing. Although their not the largest spoon, the Daredevil Imp (double hook rather than trebil) is my favorite. I have caught alot of big fish on them.

In river fishing I have had very good luck on Red-Eyes of all things .. why? I have no idea but they always seem to treat me right at the right time. The only downfall of a Red-Eye is they are way too light in comparisons to other spoons, at the same time, the weight lets you slow the retrieve down considerably and they have a very heavy *thump* in the action.

I'm in no way a lover of Red-Eye's, but they have treated me right in many different river situations where other spoons weren't producing. The walleyes seem to like them too.

Hey D,
I'm not a big spoon user but I do like them in cold water.
My faves are the 1oz red/yellow five of diamonds and the 1oz Johnson minnow.
I prefer the firetiger or gold pattern
for the Johnson minnow and I always tip it with some kind of plastic trailer.

Thanks guys. Yes Terry thats what I was thinking the colder water periods. Ive been getting away from the spoons and throwing more spinnerbaits and want to get back info spooning again.

Derek I have about every gator spoon but i have the best pike lure made. Its made by Bill Lewis lures. Its looks like a shad and i buy the one that has the black back. This is my #1 lure in the box. Derek you know my friend Chad Anderson i proved to him that this is the best bait. At Farm Island i couldn't catch anything so i tied on this lure and bet him $10 that i would catch a pike on my first cast. First cast pull in a 39in 17lb pike on my 5ft ultralight rod. One time i forget the name of the lake i made 7 casts and caught 7 pike.
