Legality?

what would the legality be in digging out an area next to the dock at my cabin so that it would be deep enough to dock our boat? Lately the water levels have been so low that we cannot get the pontoon close enough to the dock to even tie it up. Would i need a special permit from the DNR? Or would this be do-able on my own? I would probably be just attempting to do it with my brother and a couple of shovels. There really is no vegetation growing on the spot that we would be deepening it is mostly just muck.

I'm not 100% positive but I would almost bet you would need a permit for any shoreline or lake alteration. You need a permit to pull cattails or bullrushes so I would be on a permit. Go into the DNR HSOforum and search around.

Also almost 100% positive you'll need a permit.
Even if you do get one, the hole will not last long since wave and water motion will fill it back in in short order.
I'd say just extend your dock grin.gif
