chrisonice Posted September 5, 2010 Share Posted September 5, 2010 when I'm on full speed and coming to a stop or slowing down, theres a clicking noise coming from the motor, am i doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the motor. Surface Tension Posted September 5, 2010 Share Posted September 5, 2010 That is your prop rotating backwards on account of the fast stop. Normal but its an indication you should do a more gradual slow down. As the rear of the boat sinks your wake will catch you. If things are just right it can come over the stern. boatfixer Posted September 5, 2010 Share Posted September 5, 2010 As you reduce rpm, the prop shaft also reduces rpm's but the drag on the prop from the boat still moving causes the clutch dog and gear lugs to ratchet. Normal as Frank said. To better see what we mean, while the boat is out of the water, NOT RUNNING, in fwd gear, try rotating the prop clockwise. You should hear the same clicking noise.
