Rivernut
Picked up a clean 1981 lund, 16ft. Was converted from console to tiller. The coast gaurd stamp with max weight and h.p. is not there. How do I find this out? Thanks
CAMAN
Do you know the model name or have a picture of it?My '82 Lund Pro Fisherman 16' has a max HP rating of 50.If you don't have any luck here you could try giving Lund a call with the hull ID # and see if they can give you any info. Rivernut
Pike is what it says on the dnr sticker. Called a Lund dealer and what he said , it was 60-75, depending on exact model. Whether pike, pike d, or mr. pike. Looking at a 40-50 hp, so that works. Thanks for the input.
CAMAN
OK, yup, 60 or 75 and the Mr. Pike would be the 75 since its slightly larger. A way you can distinguish between the Pike/Pike D and the Mr Pike is the Mr Pike has a 72 inch beam and the Pike/Pike D have a 71 inch beam. (Beam equals widest point of boat)You will get along fine with a 50 on the Pike/Pike D, but I would jump up to atleast a 60hp if you have the Mr Pike. But IMO maxing out the hp, if you can afford it, is the only way to go. I have used far to many boats with undersized motors and they just don't perform the way they should, especially if you have passengers, full livewell, 24 volt trolling motor, larger gas tank, etc.
Rivernut
It has a 78 35hp Evinrude on it. It runs fine, 125 in both cylinders, but just seems underpowered. Thanks again for the input.
Lund79
I have a '79 Pike-T. My coast guard stamp has a rating of 40HP max. I can't rememeber the max weight. I will look tonight if I rememeber.
