I am looking to buy a bow for next season. Can you guys give me some info on a good bow for a beginner that can get the job done in the $300-$500 range.

I love my climber. The only thing I dont like about it is that it squeaks. Spooked a buck during the gun season trying to get in shooting position. So if you get a climber make sure you oil it down.

I hunted the whitewater area with my cousins. Got my very first deer. It was a monster doe. Man I had the shakes in the worst way when I took that mama. I heard a ton of footsteps walking towards my stand at about 8 am and I swear I could hear nothing but the footsteps and my heart beat. It was awesome. Anyways, I kept looking around and finally saw them. There was three of them. All does. I was bummed at first cause they were about 150 yards away and I would not hit them. So I just waited and they started walking up the mountain. I look back down the way they came and here comes an 8 pointer. At this point i'm shaking really bad. For some reason the does got spooked and two ran back the way they came and the buck takes off with them. The biggest doe however runs to within 50 yds of me and man I thought I was shaking bad earlier. Now I'm really shaking.The doe stops and starts looking around. It probably took me about 5 mins just to raise my gun and aim as I didn't want to spook her. I used a tip I got from BuckMasters and did the take a deep breath thing and bammmmm one shot with my 12 guage pump and a short sprint from the doe I hear a thump. I saw her go down about 10 yards from where I shot here. What an awesome hunt. Even though I didnt get the buck the rest of the three days we were out there I was still happy. I to am addicted now and cant wait till next year. Thanks to all the FM'ers for the info you gave me! I will post a pic once I get it developed!!!

I will be headin to Whitewater. Seen quite a few deer there while squirrel huntin earlier in the year. Hopefully I get one!!! I just bought a sit and climb stand and I hope it aint to hard to get up the tree in the dark. Good LUCK EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I checked out the regulation book and it left my kinda confused as to how much blaze orange we need to have on for the deer season. Is half the body good or does it have to be all blaze orange?

During firearm season for deer are we required to wear full blaze orange from head to toe or can it just be the upper body?

Im goin to cabela's this weekend to pick up a deerstand. Do I need to have the card to get the rebate deal? If so where would I get one from? I need one of those flashlights that you strap on your head and it would nice if I didnt have to pay for it.

Last year I was deer hunting and got thirsty. Grabbed my water bottle out of my pack and it was frozen. Is there like a bottle where you could keep your water in without it freezing on you?

I just picked up a 20 inch rifled barrel for my 870 express. Its alot shorter than my stock barrel. I do remember seeing a 28 rifled barrel somewhere and was wondering if there is alot of difference between the two? Does one have more kick than the other?

Im hunting the 3A season. Can I also hunt the 3B season or is it one or the other?

I read through all the deer post and alot of you see multiple deers alot. This is going to be my second year of deer hunting and I have done everything you should do or actually what I have read to do while deer hunting and saw only two does in about 30 hrs of sitting in a tree. Which I passed up because I waited for my buck instead. To bad he didnt show up. I hunt the whitewater wma area and was wondering if it holds good populations of deer. I am taking the whole week off work to get that first deer and I'm sold that I should take that first deer I see. What do you guys think my chances are of seeing a buck? Or should I take whatever I can get?

I filled out for a lottery tag so hopefully I to will be hunting does. I rather shoot a buck but I think I would settle for a doe. Last year was my first deer hunt and I passed up two does to wait for my buck. To bad my buck never showed up. This year I'm taking the first thing I see if I see any at all.

I have been hunting two years now and I would have to say between my ruger .22 and my 870 express the 870 is my baby. That is until I get one of those double barrels. Those things are expensive. Anybody have a suggestion on which double barrels I should look into if I was gonna buy one.

Thanks for the info guys. Im going to try this sitting thing and see if they pop out. These squirrels in the woods are alot smarter than the ones in my yard. Can you point my to some public parking areas on carlos avery? Hopefully the squirrels there will be like the ones in my front yard.

Okay I wasnt sure where to post this so I did it here. I was wondering if anybody knew of some land where I could get into some squirrels? I tried the opener down in Winona and only one squirrel to show for about 16 hrs of hunting. Most people didnt do very well. So if you know where the squirrels went then let me know. thanks.

That forest is way up there by Canada. Maybe one of these years when they start the boom climb I will try beltrami. Until then you guys enjoy the awesome grouse hunting there while I work all day to get one or two down closer to the twin cities.

I noticed alot of woodcocks and sora's in the same areas you would find grouse. Does anybody hunt them? Do they taste good? Or is it a waste of time?

What are you guys gonna hunt for this weekend? I'm gonna play squirrel assasain with my 22. I dont really like eatin them but my girlfriend will demolish them. I dont know how she eats it but she tells me i'm missing out. Any of you like squirrel?

Hi all. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the way of some public land for pheasant hunting. I tried down in Whitewater last year and only saw one bird. I would like to see more than one bird this year but I seem to be having quite a hard time finding any public land with more than one bird.
