  1. I have 115 Yamaha 4 stroke motor, the primer ball will not hold prime, we have replaced the ball and checked hose to float bowl. Will build up pressure and hold ball solid till there. We then removed the hose off the fuel pump and did same process pumped ball but wouldnt hold pressure. Does anyone know what might be causing this? The motor will fire but pretty not stay running. Anyone know a good machanic in the Dent, Perham area that would come out to the lake, poonton is on lift. Thanks
  2. an item that our vet told us about that works great is Mastitis tubes for cows. Put a tube in each ear and it will fix the problem. I have a yellow lab that is in the laka alot and always get them. They only cost about $20 at Mills Fleet or your large animal vet will also carry them.
  3. Points well stated, I would be willing to bet that all the "ethical hunters" on here, or the one that call themselves that, all have done something that maybe not quite up to everyones ethical standards. I think its unethical to go on this forum and state what type ethical a hunter you are without anyone verifing it. The guys that says more funding, well news alert the state is broke, the ethical thing to do would be to have all the ethical guys donate all there wages to the state to go after the baiters, 2 line guys, overlimit guys. I dont want to pay anymore to have it wasted by the state. You give them more they will waste more. If someone is willing to take the stupid chance to lose their gun, and hunting privleages over a baited deer, thats there deal and i could care less. Talk about sometime good like the guy that shot the huge 8 pointer, nice deer. Largest 8 pointer ever. How do you fix those type of guys? Spend more money we dont have?
  4. Does the 4 wheeler rule just apply to public lands or can you use all day on township roads and private land. Never have quite figured out what the rules are from reading the regulations. Any clarification would be helpful otherwise i will call the DNR and get more confused.
  5. I have land about a mile south of Dent where hwy 35 and 41 Junction on the way to Richville. 5 minutes from the Tripple Play.
  6. Does it still show 2000 available for area239, i asked in Dent a few weeks ago and they said all have been given out, will have to try again
  7. I was down last weekend and drove from the hwy 14 - hwy 71 crossing at the Sanborn corners to south of Marshall and have never saw so much corn in the fields this late and no tillage done. We pheasant hunted and only shot one bird. Before season every moring we saw several pheasants fly to corn and the grass was pretty much empty by 9 am. Deer hunting will interesting at best. Corn is going out but alot of farmers thought that they would at least until thanksgiving to get all the corn out and tillage done. Corn is so wet and yielding real good that eleavators shut down most days by 5 PM and everything stops. Well at this rate if winter isnt real bad should be pleanty around next year
  8. The other thing to remember is some of the landowners will make you feel like friend once you get to know them. Also give them as much information about yourself as you can, where you live, where go to school ect. The more comfortable you make them feel the better chance you will have keeping the spot.
  9. I had a yellow lab that was gun shy to start with. This may sound crazy but it worked. I would hit golf balls in back yard and she would bring back to the point that she would go nuts when I took out the golf club. AFter that I switched to throwing clay targets, and after awhile she would go nuts, barking and hyper, . Then I started shoot the clay targets with a 20 ga and she was over the being gun shy. Shes 12 yrs old and still goes nuts whenever the clay targets comes out. Worked my other young dogs the same way. Associate shooting with something they love doing and they may get over it. I threw the targets every other day for about 10 days then started shooting.
  10. I have permission to hunt a field that the geese are feeding in. The problem is the field is coal black due being wet and tilled. Has anyone used black bed sheets over blinds or does it still make them flare. He might allow us to digs a little hole for our blinds but there is manure under the and might be a little nasty. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  11. Again your opinion on the subject, most of the talk was about kids shooting on the water, which who cares, its legal, and we have a few people that think they are above everyone else when someone states how they hunt. I like the guy that stated that he yelled comments to others hunting close by, i would think that is hunter harrassment, whatever happened to minding ones own business, because if someone would be yelling at that him he would be on here post about what type of a jerk he hunted next to.
  12. I was in Sak Canada hunting last week and have never saw as many ducks as they have up there this year. If the cold weather hits up there like the forecast shows, maybe a few more migrating ducks and geese will show up by next week. There were alot of ponds with 500-1000 mallards and pintails on them. Alot of the ponds couldn't be even hunted due to the fact they were still surrounded by unharvested crop and with the rain still havent been hunted.
  13. Heading out next Tuesday to hunt he Lakota, Michigan area, wondering how much rain has come down and how wet the area is. Came thru the area On Oct 1st on way back from SAK. Looked real wet, wondering if fields of corn or beans are flooded and how duck population is. Thanks
  14. Been stopped by Federal warden, night before duck hunting one time by Sunburg. Not alot of fun, all we were doing was heading to the bar. They dont care who your are, if your kids are along or not they treat you as guilty and make you feel like you need an attorney. Truck across each side of the road. My bother in law got stopped for coon hunting without dog Same thing but 5 vehicles, looking for deer poachers. If you carry to many of the wrong species would be interesting to say the least and would make you think twice of taking the wrong limit home. What stops you from doing it all the time if you never get checked or stopped. Its makes the heart pound real hard, after that i never risk taking wrong limit from the field, its like an cops program when they are making a bust, i think they do for the heck of it sometimes to make sure you dont even think about breaking the rules. Party does happen, look at Pheasant hunting bird gets up who says " ok bob you take one of your 2" now and I will shoot at the next one. Everyone opens up, just how hunting is. heck who know maybe you can party hunt for pheasants but i am sure someone will let me know this. We do it, just how it works sometimes.
  15. Yes, as winnie walleye stated, the Mallards were hard to tell the differnce in flight, my son had dropped 2 mallards right away, the 2nd hen was pretty small, all the flock that came over that were mallards, you couldn't see any color and some of these were right on top of us. Kids get excited and thats what this is for, to keep the kids and get the kids into duck hunting. IF they shoot one extra hen, without trying, it happens to everyone somewhere along the way. After we had the 2 hens I all They shot at was teal, but why ruin the kids day, two ducks in one shot is pretty cool. Brag that up and forget that 2 hens fell, what somepeople forget on here are people are human and sometimes rules get broken without anyones fault. If you keep both birds, get stopped buy a CO that is on a power trip your son might not want to go out duck hunting anymore. Brag about the 2 birds in one shot, pretty soon there wont be any duckhunters left. Fox and eagles also have to eat.
  16. is the fine really only $10 for driving 85 in a 75? the to Sask Canada next weekend and is nice to know if we are behind schedule
  17. Backroad Adventures, he has cabins he rents out and also has some houses, he is by Brocket and his name is Dale Varnson. Real nice guy and the cabins are nice and clean. Also has cleaning house. He might full already, but never know. [note from admin: please read forum policy before posting again. thanks]
  18. you guys cant forget the Windor and mix.
  19. I was wondering if WMA's are also closed the week of OCt 12th or just the Plots.
  20. i would purchase before the DNR does, they are buying about 120 acres by Sanborn, even thought they are broke. They drive up the price of land.
  21. Part of it could the identity of the birds, he may not know what a pintail looks like. THe only place i have seen them is in far western Mn and that was only a few and after opener were gone. We hunt SAS Can and there is afew pintails up there but when a large flock of all birds get up pretty hard to tell what they are. I would say alot of hunters that just hunt Minn have not seen a pintail, i have only seen a few in the state and that was by Monte, shot one in ND last year but the are kinda disappear whent he shooting starts
  22. Ducks unlimited has a cool migration map that i would post a link to if i knew how. You can post migration changes and see where they are at. I looked last week nothing posted, but this week has quite a few posts. I will try to add the link once i figure out how.
  23. you are why article is written, sounds like you could pay a little restituion yourself to change your mind, hope you get caught in the back woods and they throw the book at you. I think they should take atvs until its fixed. Just like a boat or a gun on a overlimit or major violation. Just becuase you have atv you have the right to tear up the back woods.
  24. I own a couple of 4 wheelers but would never tear up someones land or my own. A lot of riders feel its ok to ride where ever they feel. My father allow a snowmobile club to put a trail thru his crep acreage along a river. Once the snow was gone the 4 -wheelers showed up. riped up the trail, took down the signs and when he tried to catch up to them to tell them stay out, guess what rode away like a bunch of ........well, you know!! Anyone that thinks this is bad reporting is nuts, it happens all over and not by all but mostly by people that think they have rights that dont exist. All they care about is there fun and not about how hard it is to clean up the ruts and replant whatever is ripped out. I thougt it was a good article, sure couldn't fake what they showed, bad apples in every sport, but why would anyone defend that type of behavior. Want to tear up property buy your own an have at it.
  25. I have a model 700 .270, model 700 .260 and a .223. Never had any issues with the trigger or the saftey. The .270 I have is a nice shooting gun. I also have a Browning 300 wim mag. I like that gun and it came with a boss muzzel break that really cuts recoil. The .260 is 8 yrs old and the rest around 5 years old and not single problem with them.
