  1. I ice fished that lake about 10 years ago. We caught quite a few, but they were all small, 2-4 lbs.
  2. You should just test it out at home and see how many nights you get. The last night when it runs out of juice may be a bugger.
  3. I vote the moultrie I40 as well. Great price and trigger speed from what I was used to and as mentioned long battery life.
  4. I've got a 93 60hp merc and had the same thing happen to me. I put the muffs on and fired up the motor. Then I took a length of 14 or 16 gage wire and ran it back into the water outlet and sure enough it cleared out the mud. I was able to snake the wire in about 12 to 16 inches. I keep that wire in my boat now in case I need it in the future.
  5. Check sierra trading post online. Many of the brands mentioned already are available at significant savings. You can find a real good pair in the price range you're looking for.
  6. Sorry, I hadn't checked my email in a couple days. I sent a reply and will be in contact with you tomorrow.
  7. Minn Kota Maxxum 65 LB Thrust 24 volt cable steer bow mount trolling motor. 54 inch shaft, built in maximizer, and infinite speed control. Motor is 6 years old and in good condition. Everything works perfectly. More than enough thrust to pull my 16 foot Lund. Could definately handle a larger boat than mine. $395
  8. Say you just have a standard charger and will be charging each battery one at a time. Do you have to disconnect the batteries so they are not in series before you charge each one, or can you leave them in series and charge one at a time?
  9. One morning out duck hunting with a few buddies, a nice flock of mallards come in to our spread from the left. A few shots were fired and a couple of greenheads fold up nicely. From a distance we hear our buddy on the extreme right edge of the spread, at least 50 yds. from where the ducks hit the water, proudly and loudly proclaim "I got'em!". Well, the rest of us had a good laugh on his behalf as we knew there was no way he even touched those birds. Well of course for the rest of the day "I got'em" was yelled out whenever a bird was shot, regardless if you fired or not. From that day on, whenever I talk to any of my buddies and ask how's fishing or hunting has been, their reply will simply be "I got'em".

  11. I'm like you, I've fished a lot of waters that don't allow any kind of bait so now I rarely use any even when it is allowed. I have put down shiners on a tip-up or set line and have caught fish but more often than not I don't get anything with that setup. However, you may as well go ahead and set a few of these cuz you never know. Besides tubes and airplane jigs, which are always good, I would have an assortment of spoons like little cleos, pimples, kastmasters, vinglas, doctors, etc. Most any spoon will work and at times will produce better than a tube. Walleye Flyer jig heads are also good and you can put many different types of plastic on them including tubes. They used to make a 1 oz. walleye flyer but I can't find them anymore so get whatever is the biggest size you can find or more importantly the one with the largest/stoutest hook. Storm Lures also make a bunch of good soft baits that work real well. I like the many varieties of the Swim Shad, the jigging soft minnow, the finesse minnow, and the rattle tube. One other bait that I like that I don't think many people use is a rattlin' rap or any of the other similar style baits. They've got good action on the drop and obviously rattle when you jig them up. I've caught several lakers on these baits. Good luck out there this weekend. I hope you guys really pound them, and maybe catch a trout or two.

    Rock Bass

    Well said Minnetonka.
  13. Stu check your email.

    Rock Bass

I wouldn't say they feed "exclusively" on crayfish and bugs. I've caught plenty of Rock Bass on fatheads and crawlers and leeches and crankbaits and spinnerbaits and pretty much everything else you drop in the water. Oh yeah, the few I've eaten I couldn't tell the difference between them and the other panfish they were mixed in with.
  15. That's a great story Down Deep. Those lakers can definately be aggressive, but that is exceptional! Also, thanks for the indirect tip on jigging two rods. I've never thought of doing that for lakers. My arms are going to get a good workout this weekend.
  16. FYI.... If you purchase a resident lifetime license, it remains valid even if the license holder moves out of Minnesota. This applies to fishing and hunting lifetime licenses.
  17. Here's a 33" laker that was C&R this opening trout weekend. It was a little chilly fishin' outside. My 4 yr old with a crappie from the weekend.
  18. I've trained my Lab as well. His nose is a whole lot better than my eyes.
  19. I'd sure appreciate a copy when you get a chance. Thanks in advance. brentnybakken@hotmail.com
  20. I've used the Mr. Heater Cooker in my trap voyager up in Cananda fishing trout in -42 F and was plenty warm, at least inside the shack. That was the actual temp, not with windchill. I use either the 1 lb. bottles or the hose with a 20 lb. tank depending on how I'm fishing/travelling.
  21. I apply every year for the time period that correlates to the fishing opener. I've drawn a tag every year for the last 8 - 10 years, or however long I've been huntin' them toms. I get in plenty of fishing before "fishing opener", so missing that weekend is no big deal. Depending on how the hunt goes, I usually get in a little trout fishing to boot!
  22. When you register your deer, you receive a possession tag and that is what stays with your deer. You then still have the top portion of your tag to carry with you in the field.
  23. I've been waiting to get the photo of the 43" before posting. Did I hear Dryberry?
