Over the years I have done a lot of fishing for "Jacks" in northern Canada and have noticed a kind of disdain or dislike of them by local people, and have found many trophy northerns with their throats slit or cut up the belly and left to die a slow agonizing death. Now I'm not trying to tell anybody what to do, or start any arguments, I just want to know why this is done.

I've heard of people not being excited over jacks aka-northers, pike, snakes, hammer handles...but I've never heard of the cruel and unusual punishment like that. Weird.

I think the reason for killing jacks is because of all the attacks that are documented in canada of people losing there toes while swimming in those northern canadian waters.
