MP3 Static

I got Philips MP3 player and a male/male adapter cord to hook it into my in dash CD player in my car, problem is, there is a ton of static in between songs. It is a cheap cord ($4) and they had an $11 cable, but I went on the cheap. Is it the MP3 player, or the cord?

Hook just a set of earphones to it, if it still has static then its the mp3 player, if not, try a better cord. Mine has some static, wich I think some is normal.

i go by the credo "your audio equipment is only as good as it's weakest link. there is a definate difference between 'cheap' and 'good' cables. i believe that good cables have better shielding.

on a side note, the input on mp3 players and such seem to be where probs tend to begin.

With headphones there is no static. Guess I will have to go with the $11 cord.
