Randyjr.
By a fluke I won a Minn Kota Endura 30 transom mount electric trolling motor at a vacation show. I'll put it on my canoe, 17 foot Alumacraft. Never Used a trolling motor before. Any Advice one what battery I should get and what charging system to use sure would be appreciated.
Jack Stasney
I had a 36lb transom Minnkota on my old 14ft aluninum boat. I used to use it for 2 good days of trolling and sometimes a little more on one interstate 160 amp hour marine battery. This type of setup would probaly work well for your canoe considering you've got a spot to mount it. You could definetely probably go a little smaller on the battery depending on how many days of use you want in a row.Thought I'd add that I just used a regular car battery charger once I got home. This will probably be what you would do with this type of boat because you'll most likely have easy access to the battery. Plan on long charging times for a deep cycle. Mine use to take 5-6hrs minimum to fully charge.
