uncertain depths

for the last 3 years i'v been using the eagle
ultra classic fish finder which i have no problems with. this last time out i couldn't
tell how much water i was fishing in as the
depth in the upper left corner was constantly
changing. the battery was fully charged. any suggestions.

I'll bet this is a common problem Lake.Theres gotta be tons of guys out there that have fought this battle and know just how to get out of it.Unfortuneately,I'm not one of them as you saw yesterday.

Was your transducer below the ice? I used to use a Z5000 that was fussy that way.

Paulie,check out the topic "chlorinated water and bait" Theres a lot of good info there on what to do and not to do with them.We're learning here.

Sounds like the battery. You may have charged it but it still could have dead cells. Have it checked or try another one. After you have proven that battery is good, put the end of the ducer in your ear, if you hear it clicking strong, the then the unit maybe bad. Where you fishing next to anyone using a locator with the same frequency??

minnema, the transducer was probabaly 6 inches below the ice. i that enough?

d-man thanks for the info i'll gib\ve it a try, there were no other locators around. it's funny because at times it would give
the correct depth but would change drastically within a minute or so.
