FOOTDOC
My yard is now one year old. It was hydroseeded and did well until the heat of July/August. I now have several gray/brown patches but also have several areas of good grass. I was thinking of renting a slit seeder and am curious if anyone here has used one before? Does it tear up the exsisting grass? Any tips on how heavy to set the seed drop rate? Thanks in advance and I am doing this about September 10 or so and will let you know how it works out! IT Guy
I did this last weekend. It did not tear up the existing grass but did bring up a little thatch but no big deal. The guy at the feed store told me to put down 1 lb. grass seed per 600 sq. feet. There was a chart on the seeder I rented to figure out the setting.Be prepared they are heavy. The walk behind I rented went 350 lbs with no reverse.Good Luck.
