Have a 2002 Yamaha 25hp 4 stroke and it runs great, not much guts though. It starts every time and uses a lot of gas. Also have a Honda 9.9 kicker on the big boat and like that engine much better. Thinking of trading in the yamaha for a 40 honda. Talked to a dealer that knows his stuff and he said honda makes the best 4 stroke on the market, because they have been making them for 20 years. He tends to frown on the merc 4 stroke because he has seen problems with them due to it being a newer concept for mercury. Dont know much about the suzuki, but thats my two cents on merc, yamaha, and honda.

I just got a 25 yam 4 stroke, it's a 2 cyl. The honda is 3 and per the honda dealer much smoother, less vibrations, also a lot more money. I got electric start and It's on the boat ready to get used. by the way honda has a 20 horse that is a lot lighter, my yam is 140 pounds or so and it is nearly a 2 person job to put on the boat unless you grunt hard and use some devices to put it on the boat.
