If fabrication is an option....

Depending on how large she wants the stair, a couple green treat 2x6's and a few nails may do the trick. You could build it to span half of the existing rise and as "deep" and wide as she desires. It would be easy to store in the off season as well. Just tuck it inside the house.

A quick tip for ya... Wood may get a bit slick in the winter.. Mounting a few strips of anti-skid material would be some good insurance from a slip and fall...

talking about the staris being slippery in the winter buy some grip tape that they put on kids skateboards you can purchase it at lockal skate shopes like zumes and some other ones i use it on my weal wells coves on my boat trailer so i can climb in with out slipping works really well.
