freighttrain50
Well i was out fishing walleyes the other day and had an encounter with a beast of a muskie and was wondering if anyone could recommend a hot topwater or any other lure for muskies. I have fished them a little bit before and havent had any luck and was wondering if anyone had any hot baits. After that encounter i have been dreaming of catching a muskie. I would love to get into the sport of musky fishing and was looking for a little help. Thanks!!!
Trailblazin
Well, for starters, I would get all the release tools necessary: Big Frabill Musky Net, Knipex hook cutters, jaw speader, etc...Hot Baits: So many to start with: Topwaters like the Top Raider or Tally Wacker, Bucktails and Spinnerbaits in Black or brown with gold blades...I alos like red and orange blades..Jerk baits like a Suick, crank baits like a Triple DDD, Crane Baits, Shallow Invaders, etc......Your list will grow and you'll need the right set ups: MH musky rod spooled with 80l Power Pro or Tuff Line, etc..Use Steel leaders too!Expensive sport, but very rewarding! Please practice CPR!!!!!!!!!!!!! delmuts
if you just want to get a start ? BE WARNED!!! IT IS ADDICTING !!! get a good baitcaster with a mh rod 6-6 to 7-6. i agree with the 80# power pro line. for starting out and few good lures would be a couple of bucktails, maybe a jerk bait or two, for top water lures, i like the awaker,or anihalator. these are easy to use. just cast and reel. just 5 or 6 lures will give you something to start with, and hopefully catch your first one. you cna decide if you want to exspand from there. del
