Tournament Etiquette Question

Recommended Posts

let's say that everyone takes off from the starting point at the same time and we get to a "narrows" area that we are going to fish at the same time. 2-3 boats want to cast the area and I want to troll. The casters are on the humps that I want to troll around. Should I just troll the area the way I want to no matter what or should I respect the other fisherman?

Depending on the tournament I believe there are some rules stating how close competitors boats may be to each other, so that could be a factor. Sometimes a cast length or so. I've seen different rules in different tournaments.

This is how it's been for the tournaments I've been in. Usually they set a distance you have to respect from each boat.

lol, I'm not "that guy". I was just wondering what other people think. I'm not a tournament fisherman but am thinking about fishing a couple next year. The only tournament that I have ever fished is the Frank Schnieder and a guy stuck a 48"er on North Bar within casting distance of our boat after we were the first boat out there but I assume that is a different ball game since there are so many entrants so we were just happy to see them get a fish.
