Can someone please help me with Snowblower.

DTro

Question

Single stage Craftsman

It seems to have lost its ability to throw snow very far. It will throw small amounts and not very far and if the intake gets full it just bogs down.

Almost seems like the belt could be slipping under load? Does that happen? What else could it be? I basically gave up because at this point I'm basically just pushing the snow around.

Where can I start to diagnose this?

Got a couple of new belts from Ace today for my craftsman and replaced them. The belt completely shredded so there was no doubt what the problem was. Also took out an extension cord last year. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I had a similar problem as you and found out that the wire going to the clutch was loose and had to be tightened. The blower was not fully engaging. On my craftsman there are some adjustments on the cable that goes to the clutch that you can use to tighten or loosen it.

Well, I found a belt at Sears and replaced it. In the process I found that the housing was cracked/split in a circle near the large pulley. I think snow pack was getting in there and icing up.

At any rate, she's working like a champ now.

Thanks!
