Cancun Charter Fishing Tips?

I don't remember the name of the place, but it was located to the right of the LaBoom club when looking out into the water, across the road from the Costa Real hotel, we fished a day there and it was extremely windy, they said if it was worse we wouldnt have gone out, despite the motion sickness, we caught many tuna for bait, and then a barracuda and many amberjacks in the 30-50lb range, we would have caught many more if it was calm, but all over a blast, and very reasonable, we fished in a 45 foot boat about 14 miles out, only about 60 bucks a piece for 8 hours of fishing with 8 people.

One thing I would definetly do is before you leave your resort is ask the chef if you can bring your catch back and have him prepare it for an evening meal. We did that in cozemel and it was awesome! I caught a 20# bluefin tuna and man was that baby tasty. It feed 8 of us and we gave the chef 20 bones for cooking it. Try it if your resort does that kind of thing. Joe

Don't remember the name of the company, but we caught barracuda, red snapper, and queen trigger fish most of the day.
The suggestion about having the chef prepare your catch is good, we did exactly the same thing, and those trigger fish are the best thing I've ever tasted. First time I'd ever seen anyone clean a fish with a machete, amazing.
We stayed at the Blue Bay Getaway(all inclusive + adult) can you say topless pools, beach, and no kids! grin.gif We booked our trip through the resort, just a small outfit, and neither of the guys spoke english. Hectar and ???
One thing to mention, if they start hooking the fish and letting you reel, tell them you want to hook them, and they'll just set the line and let you do everything else. What fun is it if they catch it for you and you just reel it in.

Takin it easy! & if it’s easy, I’ll take it twice!

The wife and I just got back from Cancun in Feb. We went out with some outfit thru our hotel.(near playa del carmen)(sharefishing) It was about $100 each for 6 hours. The wife got a nice king mackeral, then spent the next (2) hours heaving her guts out.(It wasn't that rough) on decent 36ft boat. There are a number of fishing charters check around for prices. good luck
