Replacing bunks

Drew

Question

i'm needing to replace the bunks on my trailer as they are starting to rot. I think the original (factory) bunks are SPF 2x6". I would like to use green treated to get a few more years out of them. Any suggestions??

If you have an aluminum boat you won't want to use green treated boards as the chemicals in the board corrode the aluminum. Not sure if the chems would leech through carpet covering or not but I am not sure I would want to risk it.

Someone who knows more than I do will pop in here I am sure.

On my old trailer I just got the regular wood and primed and painted with marine grade paint and then carpeted them and they lasted about 10 years before I finally sold it. last time I saw the trailer it still loked to have the job I did on it.
