Shimano TR 200G?

I’ve never used one or seen it in action, but being a Shimano product I’m sure it’ll do just fine.

If I read your post correctly, are you planning on mounting a baitcaster on a spinning rod? Not that it won’t work, but getting a nice spinning reel like an Okuma or Salt Striker is probably a better option. Just my $0.02 that’s all.

I haven't had any experience with Shimano for bigger game, but I love shimano for lighter gear - ultralight, walleye reels, etc.

For cats I've mostly used Garcia baitcasters. I know there's better gear out there but when one of your local baitshops is closing out his Abu inventory at 1/2 price, you buy what he's got smile They seem like they're workhorses, and parts are easy to find and cheap for them.

I second what Phil said regarding putting a baitcaster on a spinning rod -- might not be the BEST option with the guides sticking up and whatnot, but in theory it'll probably work.

Instead, I might be inclined to buy a second rod to put that shimano on, and voila -- second cat combo for cases like when one breaks down, or you have a guest with that doesn't have cattin gear, or you are on waters where 2 lines are legal, etc. American Spirit Nite Stick is a nice rod for under 40 bucks.
