This is my first year turkey hunting and my first season starts tomorrow. I am hunting my parents land, and they have been seeing turkeys everyday. I went out this morning to watch and listen for a while. I turned the corner onto their road, and could see a big tom in full strut in the neighbors horse pasture. Needless to say I can't wait until tomorrow! There is a barbed wire fence, road and another barb wire fence between where he was and where I will be hunting. I need some suggestions so I do not screw this up!

Thanks!

Well fences can cause birds to hang up at times. I try to eliminate as many of there barriers as much as possible. So if the birds are roosting over on the neighbor's property and you have permission to hunt there I'd set up on the other side of the fences. If not then you'll need them to come across. No telling where the turkeys will roost tonight unless you are out there listening for fly up in the evening. They could all be on your parents property tomorrow.

Good Luck!

I would be talking to the neighbor to see if they will let you hunt!!! If they won't, hopefully there is a low spot in the fence or an open gate. Open gates are a good spot to set up, at least in my limited turkey experience.

I'm not sure where from Hudson you'll be hunting, but I hunted 2 and 3 years ago, just south of Hudson and property owners were very welcome to let me hunt. I was bowhunting, but I don't think that mattered, as the one guy tried to convince me to borrow his shotgun! LOL

Good Luck!

Brian
