  1. The prep work for birch is the worst, especially sanding it to get the white papery layer off. I've started using my down time to make rings, sand them and glue them together in 2" sections just to get a head start on future handles
  2. This is a rod i did as a favor for my brother. He had collected all of the birch bark from his father-in-laws, and wanted a rod to give him as thanks. The Wisconsin Birch bark is much thinner than the stuff i get in SE Minnesota, so it was a lot more work and gluing. The rod is an MHX 6' 2 piece UL with micro guides. Nice little stick
  3. Thanks guys. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Definitely need the pits filled and another coat of U40. It's on a 6' MHX blank. Really happy with the setup.
  4. Here is one I did. I gutted an ugly stick for the reel seat insert, and used a Forstner bit to inlet the cork. Not perfect by any means, but it is so comfy and very light in hand.
  5. I've caught them in Mill Creek right in Chatfield, although not many. I know for a fact that they dumped a pile of them in the South Branch of the Root River upstream of Forestville State Park. If you park at the bridge on county 5 and walk upstream they are in there pretty thick
  6. Caught a nice Rainbow on Saturday afternoon. Biggest rainbow i have ever pulled from a SE MN stream.
  7. Rochester Post Bulletin reported last night that a 19 year old from Rushford will be charged with shooting and stealing a large deer from a Houston deer farm. Story said a green score of 212 B&C
  8. for spinning gear, number 6 and number 9 Panther Martins with silver or gold blades, jointed rapalas either size 5 or 7 and number 6 x raps have been working well almost all year. Worms are great to have as long as the stream allows for it
