  1. Seems like in the past this is a very active form in a great place to go to find out more, chat on fishing and ask questions but when I look at recent postings they nearly or nonexistent. Where did everyone go instead? Thank you.

    Dobyn's Rods?

I have bought a few dobyns extremes (spinning and casting)...these rods just seem "dead" or slow to me and have sold nearly all of mine.
  3. DITTO: I'm right handed and use only left hand retrieve reels. To me it never made sense to work baits, set hooks, and fight fish with my weaker arm, let alone switch hands after casting. Thankfully left handed reels are becoming much easier to find these days.
  4. I have tried a few but prefer the norman speedsnaps when it is all said and done...
  5. I'm looking to buy a few st croix LTB and Xtreme rods. Mainly 6'10" to 7'6" spinning in ML or M Also LTB crankbait rods. Please msg here or email me at dustin@freemydollars.com
  6. Decided to do ten mile near fergus falls. Also may try to hit Fiske or pickerel for half a day if ten mile is not on fire. Any assistance on techniques or locations is always appreciated. Do you happen to know where I can get an online map of the lake or if it is on hummingbird base map set that is included with 997? Thank you to all.
  7. As you can imagine after driving 20+ hours, paying for everything and taking a buddy that has had a rough couple years with divorce and everything I want to do all I can to help put us on fish. I really appreciate the help in the decision as I only have 4 days and want to make the most of it next week tuesday-friday. I have read all the posts (time and again) trying to make a decision. Maybe I should ask it this way. "If you had one lake (or two small ones close together) to go fish next week anywhere in teh state and wanted to have a 40+ fish day with a good chance at a couple 4+# fish where would you go and would you fish SMB or LMB? I would prefer being within 3 hours of Fargo but if Rainy Lake was my very best bet I would make the 4.5hr drive if needed as catching fish is the main concern." THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH for YOUR HELP!
  8. Which lake were you really surprised did not make the list?
  9. Any input on what lakes should be "on fire" next week as really want to help my buddy get into some good fish. PM me if you prefer instead of posting in the open - I would GREATLY appreciate your help!
  10. I am headed to Fargo to pick up a new (to me) bass cat and going to make a trip out of it. I have fished Rainey and Vermillion in the past but looking to possibly fish the west side of the state from June 3-6th. I have a buddy that has had a rough last couple years that I am bringing with me as he really wants to get into numbers of good fish 2.5lbs+ (SMB mainly) but if 4lb+ LMB would be great too! Please do let me know your input on lakes to fish ( really want to just fish one lake for 4 days but could do 2 days at 2 lakes if they are smaller or easy to figure out). THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!
  11. This is my "go to" Muskie reel as for the money I think it is the best reel out there and very comfortable to fish given its power and line capacity.
  12. I appreciate the input. Looks like I'll move up to 80# for my small-mid size lures. THANK YOU!
  13. I am planning to fish some 5-7oz lures on a rod made for 3-8oz lures (Heavy action 9' rod) and usually I only throw 2-4oz lures. My question that I am needing help on is what pound test line should I plan to throw these 5-7oz lures on? Can I use 50# or 65#? Do I need to plan to go to 80# for these size baits to minimize any potential of loss of a bait if a possible backlash happens? Thank you in advance and I do greatly appreciate your input!
  14. Deet - I have to say may the best post I have ever read (most intellect) on any forum. :-) Nice job!
  15. Wondering if any other fisherman have input on this one as I appreciate the guides' info but do know they tend to fish one end or the other...so wondering what people that fish both ends or often on the west end have to say about which end is best for Smallmouth and Musky. Just trying to decide what cabin area to stay in and where to rent boats from based on where we think we will fish the most. Thank you!
