question about a minkota auto pilot

sparkyaber

Question

Neighbors auto pilot is giving a repeated audible tone. He was told it was a low battery alarm, and replaced the battery in the controller. Of course this did not solve the problem, any other ideas.

Thanks

Abe

Does he have the co-pilot? If so there are 3 settings from the remote, 1 makes an audible noise only when you push buttons, 1 makes no noise at all, and the last 1 makes a repeated audible noise when the trolling motor is running.

He would need to hold down the speed up and speed down buttons simulataneously (I think those 2 buttons) until he heres 1 beep, 2 beep, or 3 beeps. I think the normal mode is 1 beep, where it just makes a audible sound when you press a button.

Good luck.

Are you refering to a co-pilot? I assume maybe you are because you said he changed the battery in the "controller". If it is the co-pilot you are refering to, he very likely on accident reprogramed the unit to beep anytime that the motor is on. I did the same on opener weekend using large gloves. It tells all about this in the owners manual. If my memory is correct to reprogram, simply push the increase and decrease speed buttom at the same timefor a couple seconds. You will hear 1,2,or 3 beeps each time you do this. When you hear 2 beeps that is what the factory setting is. When you hear 3 beeps it will emit that annoying audible beep every few seconds that you are refering to. All this is stated in the owners manual.
