Guest
I recently returned from northwest ontario with mixed reviews. While the fishing always seems to be better than average, I was still let down by all the nice weather we had. The last few days was upper 80's, sun, no wind, and not a cloud in the sky. the worst conditions in my book for august fishing. Was looking for bike pike, but the largest i ran into was a 35". I did manage to loose a few nicer ones around the 40" mark...somehow! I tried casting into a few of my favorite traditional spots, but didn't have much luck. produced most of my fish trolling bigger cranks and musky baits. bucher depth raiders were hot. the big walleyes enjoyed them almost as much as the pike. it was tough to find fish, but trolling in about 20-30 ft produced most. i did happen to see a lot of fish suspended all over the column in 90ft of open water, but never went after them. maybe that's where the bigger gals were. i'm not sure, but i don't think the weather helped much. i got the same reviews from a few others. who knows. any thoughts on next year or how to beat the bad weather blues?
