Goofy question

Anglers may use only one hook. An artificial lure is considered one hook.

What is the definition of an artificial lure? At what point does some weird construction of wire, wood, hooks, blades etc. become "more" than just a single artificial lure?

I'm thinking of trying to modify spinnerbaits to have a trailer behind the teaser spinner as I've had missed bites when they chase the blade rather than whatever bait I've rigged it with. If that itself is legal, is there any line drawn for adding more wire, blades, and hooks to a lure?

My interpretation would be that all hooks need to be attached to one lure. I guess putting a stinger behind the lure would be legal. If it was placed too far back it wouldn't serve the intended purpose. I think that if you attached an additional bait to the stinger that would be pushing the intent of the reg. However a double, triple or even quad jointed baits with trebles on each piece is considered one lure. I sometimes use an extra single hook attached directly to the lure hook when I throw top water spinner baits. I learned that from a pro at a fishing seminar at the Northwest Sport show several years ago.
