Thief River Falls are campgrounds

We are coming to the area the 1st weekend in Oct to camp, fish the Red lake River and maybe do some grouse hunting in the area on public property. We are looking for a campground that at least has some primitive sites. Economical is a plus but not a must. We would like to have alot of options near by where we don"t have to drive too far. This will my girlfriends and my 1st time to the area. Any ideas and opinons would be appreciated.

There is a city campground right in town, Very reasonable.
