I now live about an hour north of the twin cities, are there any places to fish for stream trout? I am thinking my best bet might be to drive up to the Duluth/ Superior area. Are any trout caught in the stream that comes of Grindstone?

This place is absolutely awesome. We had a blast catching beautiful trout in anywhere from 60-160 feet of water. Unreal how clear the water is, you could literally see your jig 30' down the hole. Just for giggles, I went and checked out Browns Creek on sunday. I didn't have any expectations, but it was a nicer stream than I was expecting. It's definitely more of a dunk a worm in fishy spots as opposed to casting tackle kinda' stream. But I was able to make the most of it. The creek was brown and dirty, as it rained pretty good saturday night...but is the stream normally fairly clear? Despite the rain, it looked to still be low. There were frogs jumping everywhere, so I used a small rebel frog. I got 2 swipes from a trout, but didn't catch any. Is there any natural reproduction? Or are all the trout stocked? I'd fish here again, but only if I were coming or going from the croix, willow, or kinni rivers. I also stopped at Old Mill Creek up in Marine on St. Croix. Made the hike up to the old minnow farm. I thought the trail went right to the creek, but little did I know I had to walk through alot of brush to get to the creek. I guess I was expecting a little more. I didn't know the creek was so tiny. And the DNR page says that brook trout are abundant with big ones possible, but I really didn't see much for spots for trout to live. Anyone ever fished here with any luck? Can't really see myself coming back here.
