  1. Thanks for the tips. I tried the spring bobber but still didn't see enough, the camera won't work because the water is just to staind. I'll have to try the Ice Buster bobbers. I always thought they were a gimmick but I'll have to look into them. I'm guessing it's not tough to trim these up? Any other tips are welcomed. Thanks again.
  2. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
  3. Today we ran into some perch that were pretty much just sucking the jig in and you couldn't even feel the hit. I had a spring bobber but still could hardly detect the suck in of the jig. Any tips when this happens? Has anyone used a slip bobber with any effectiveness? I thought this way if they sucked the jig in it would take the weight off and maybe I would see the bobber rise just slightly. We are using really light jigs so I'm not sure if it would pull the bobber down enough. I marked lots of fish coming up to the jig but only caught 2. If I had a way to detect the jig getting sucked in that was better I would have had more success. Any help would be great. Thanks, Jeff
  4. No resoulution yet. I went and got a 2hp Jiffy STX and so far it works great. Waiting for a new cutting head but I think it has more to do with the engine right now. I called a local Tanaka dealer to get it in and they were supposed to have someone call me back but that didn't happen. I fish 3 times a week and need an auger that will cut without the frustration of it bogging down and hopping around on the ice. I hope someday the Nils will perform since its much lighter than any other auger but right now I wish I didn't invest in one. Hope you have some luck with JP. Post your results. Good Luck, Jeff
  5. Paul, the number you posted isn't in service. Can you please post if that is the correct number. Thanks for your help, Jeff.
  6. Paul, when I call is there anyone in particular I should talk to. Any guess as to the problem. I'm more concerned with the bogging down than the jumping around. Thanks for the reply.
  7. I know it's not from hitting the auger against the ice. The old blade did the same thing just not as much. Plus that doesn't fix the bogging down problem. I'll have to give a call. Thanks, Jeff
  8. I'm starting to think I should have stayed with my jiffy. When cutting the auger either bogs down or the blade jumps around. I have the new center point cutting head and use amsoil saber oil. Any ideas that might help. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
  9. I use Power Pro moss green musky line. 80 lb test and the thin diameter. At first I wasn't sure but now I'm sold. You can use it off your musky poles and and then reuse again in the spring. I just re-lined my tipups and left it on my musky poles but I'm sure some might like the dual use.
  10. Did you get the H2O Color plus or the base model? I ordered the base model. Hopefully the other site you recommended will get them soon. I would imagine they would. Thanks and good luck playing with the new toy. I can't wait...a new LX-5 and when the H2O C arrives I'm set.
  11. I'm not trying to push any brand but I did own a 3HP Jiffy and man was that thing a tank. It weighs 45lbs. It was the newer one with the Stealth blades and I had to have the recoil repaired. Maybe just a bad one but if you go Jiffy you might want to go with the 2HP. Just my 2 pennies.
  12. I couldn't find any Saber in a store near me so I logged on to amsoil's site and ordered (10) 1.5 oz pre-mix packs. On the site it doesn't say how much oil to use for 100-1 mix for a 1 gallon can but it does say I should use 2.6 oz for 1 gallon at 50-1. This is the stupid question...I should be able to use this 1.5 oz pack for the 100-1 mix. I know based on the above you would use 1.3 but I would guess the 1.5 would leave a little left in the pack so when I dump it in I would get close to the 1.3 oz. Just let me know if my thoughts are correct as I don't want to mix the wrong stuff with my Nils. Thanks.
  13. This video doesn't do the LX-5 justice. (not knocking the work Troy did) You really just need to see it in action to understand how much better it is than the older LX-3's.
  14. It's pretty much the same as old Marcums. They replaced the Orange with Green. It seems to make sense to me. You should be able to get a Marcum for under five hundred. I tested mine this weekend and although I didn't catch a fish the new colors are great. Much easier to read. I play more when I have a chance to use it in deeper water. The one thing I didn't like was there is no light to tell you if the IR is on. The LX-3 had one but the 5 doesn't. Pretty minor.
  15. Has anyone ordered from TigerGPS before. Just wondering how they are as far as getting things shipped in a reasonable amount of time. I know with the H2O color it isn't in stock but I don't want to order if I can find them at a retail store near here. Thanks.
