  1. Just as the previous 2 posts stated. Call Strikemaster and tell them your problem and they will send out new "Swedish" blades. Had the same problem 2 years ago. Don't screw around with any settings on your engine until you tried new blades!
  2. Great idea with the video. Keep them coming. Lots of new people to the sport that would like to see some of these things first hand. Kinda like watching the movie instead of reading the book.
  3. I also have used both and would go with the Jiggin Rap any day. I fish on Oahe in SD and in a fair amount of current some days. The Rap is much heavier for its size and stays below the hole. The Chubby will drift out to the side of the hole and sometimes out of the cone angle of my Marcum. I always cut off the front and back hooks to keep it from getting caught on the bottom of the ice, put a larger treble hook on the bottom and tip with a minnow head. Walleyes love it!
  4. After buying a new 8" Lazer Mag late last winter, I have been very disapointed. It will not break thru the bottom of the hole cleanly. The blade will either jam up when the point goes thru, or else it will literally pull the auger down into the hole when it goes thru. If I try to pull it back up, the auger will turn backwards. I have tried full throttle, 1/2 throttle. No downward pressure, slight to moderate downward pressure. I have even had other guys try it with the same results. The worst part is that the bait shop I purchased it from went out of business after 30 years. Any ideas??
  5. Lots of Bluebills on Bitter last weekend, but not as many Mallards as before. You will definitely need a boat for Bitter. Some full body Canada decoys and a couple of spinners will work in the fields for ducks. Scouting is the most important thing here. Lots of ducks (mixed bag) in this area.
  6. This might sound funny, but try the frozen seafood section at your grocery store.
  7. Have you tried using a larger dead bait such as smelt? The scent given off by this type of bait may help attract a hungry pike.
  8. Check out there HSOforum at www.humminbird.com. Looks like there are several numbers for service, support etc.
  9. I don't have any technical answers for your problem, but I have used my Colorpoint for several years until upgrading to a Marcum LX-3 this year, and I assure you it will pick up targets as small as air bubbles when working properly. I would suggest contacting Humminbird since I believe they bought out Zercom. A friend of mine had the same problem with his after hundreds of hours of use and they told him that they could repair it.
  10. Fished Waubay Monday and Tuesday. Picked up 2 nice eyes and 6 perch on Monday, but today was very slow. Didn't mark a fish in 4 hours.
  11. It looks like my old Jiffy may have crapped out today, so I was looking at some new augers. Does anyone own one with the compression release button? This looks like a nice feature, but is it reliable, or just something else that can go wrong? Will they freeze up? How long have they been in the field? It looks like Strikemaster and Jiffy both have them. Has anyone had any problems with them?
  12. You can't go wrong with either shack, as long as it's Blue. I have a Fishtrap Pro and a 5600. If you move alot or fish alone, the Fishtrap is a better choice, much easier to set up and take down, but if you like more room and fish multiple lines the 5600 will shine. Other things to consider are, how many people will you fish with? Will you have to pull it and other equipment out on the ice on foot? I don't think one fish house can do it all. They all have there pros & cons. Go with what fits your needs and style of fishing.
  13. Anybody have any luck finding those Waubay crappies thru the ice? What parts of the lake do they use during the winter? Very few fisherman seem to catch any, but there are some real slabs out there. Any info would be helpful. ------------------ <>Go Fish<>
  14. Richmond has been a good producer of nice gills and crappies this winter although it has slowed some recently. Mina has a large population of 8-10" crappies but very few people are fishing there. You would be hard pressed to find 10 people on the lake on any weekend. Most anglers from this area head east to Waubay, West to Lake Oahe or into North Dakota to any number of perch and pike hotspots less than a hundred miles from Aberdeen. ------------------ <>Go Fish<>
  15. Fished Waubay on Friday the 13th. Ice is about 7"- 8" thick but watch out for the heaves. Walk out or use 4 wheelers only. Fished from 3 to 5:30 in the afternoon with decent success on perch from 10-12" {should have been there earlier}. Caught and released about 20 walleyes, almost all in the 15" range on jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head. Fished in twenty feet of water near Buckshot. Plan on staying after sunset for the walleyes. ------------------ <>Go Fish<>
  16. I love catching perch and crappies on jigs through the ice. But there are times when a plain hook and minnow under a slip bobber is the ticket. With all the hook styles, sizes and colors to pick from, I would like to hear some opinions on which is the best for this presentation. Lets hear some ideas! ------------------ <>Go Fish<>
  17. Looks like there will be pretty good ice this weekend. Small lakes in the Webster area had around 6" today with temps below zero tonight and very little snow on the ground. As always tho' "be careful". Ice conditions can vary greatly from one lake to another. Overall, a good early ice kickoff. ------------------ <>Go Fish<>
  18. I have both of these traps and the Pro is definetly the way to go. The scout is a tight fit for even a medium sized guy. The Pro has more room, the seat is a lot more comfortable, and the walk out door is nice at times. Just an all around better built trap. ------------------ <Go Fish>
